Cicero Fire Department – Fear is Not an Option
A Firefighter’s Poem from a Daughter of a Cicero Firefighter
The pager makes a blaring noise from the other room,
The scanner comes to life with a young womans voice.
Excitment beams across my daddys face.
As he runs out the door with keys in hand, I say a little prayer,
That God will keep him safe.
My daddy is just your all american guy.
Still holding the mindset of a young boy,
He has never gotten over the excitement of engines and sirens and danger.
Staring in the face of death,
He always moves forward.
He has walked as close to “hell on earth” as any man could do.
Putting his life on the line, everytime duty calls.
Never afraid to take a chance,
Just to rescue that one special life.
Someone he never even knew.
My daddy is a firefighter.
He is a special man, and always ready to go.
So when you hear those sirens wail past,
or see those incandescent lights,
Stand aside and look with pride,
My daddy is off to save a life.

“ADOPT A FIRE HYDRANT “
Please join the Cicero Fire Department and our members in encouraging your family, friends and neighbors to “Adopt a Fire Hydrant” near their home – to keep snow shoveled away from it during the winter and trim the plant growth in the summertime. This will ensure that hydrants are visible and will greatly speed the response time in case of an emergency.
